BIO:

Robbie HRBH 1 (1)ardy spent 20+ successful years in the corporate world before finding her true calling in the entrepreneurial world. She has sat on all sides of the entrepreneurial desk – as entrepreneur, strategic consultant, board member, investor, mentor, and coach.

Living her motto, “There’s got to be a better way,” she’s developing a national women-only mentoring program called Lessons Earned. www.lessonsearned.com

Why she wrote the book:

I wrote Upsetting the Table to empower young businesswomen to excel. It’s based on the years of hard-knock lessons I earned during my successful career.  I put the lessons into a parable that many women will relate to –  because it is easier to see an example of how these lessons can work for you, before you try and implement them in your own life.   It’s been my experience that change does not come in one big explosion but rather by steps taken by each and everyone of us.  With that in mind, this book is written for the women ready to make changes and advance their own career and lives.

What the book is about:

The book is a business fable that takes a young, inexperienced product manager and pairs her with a strong, experienced mentor. As she progresses in her career, she faces many hurdles that readers will relate to. She uses the advise of her mentor to navigate these pitfalls and hurdles in her own way, forwarding her career and gaining greater perspective on what makes her feel successful. Hopefully readers will see how these lessons can apply in their own lives as well as the value of one-on-one mentorship.

Back Cover:

After a successful and trail-blazing career in the technology sector, Robbie Hardy looked around and wondered, what happened to all the women? The boardrooms were still mostly a boy’s club, and the ranks of up-and-coming executives had few women as well. Robbie decided she needed to get to the bottom of this trend.

What followed was an exploration into the meaning of mentorship, the power of the “girl’s club” and the mission to nurture young managers into successful executives. She has created Lesson’s Earned, the women’s mentorship club that pairs successful executives with up-and-coming talent. She has helped countless women tackle the challenges in their career. In Upsetting the Table, she now creates a powerful parable for women to see how hard-earned lessons can be applied in their lives and their careers.

Why do women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes? How can we address this inequality? Robbie Hardy tackles this and many other women-in-the-workplace questions in her groundbreaking book “Upsetting the Table”
